Augusta man dies from Sunday night shooting in Thomson

A 33-year-old Augusta man who was shot Sunday evening in Thomson has died.

Thomson police officers who were called to 523 Dell Drive about 10 p.m. discovered George Drumgold, of Alene Circle in Augusta, with a gunshot wound.

Mike Ayers, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent in charge, said Drumgold was visiting someone when he was shot outside the home.

Ayers said the shooting appears to be the result of a continuing dispute between Drumgold and another person.

The victim was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m. Monday.

His body has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy

No arrests have been made, but Ayers said significant progress is being made in the case.

Drumgold also had been the victim of a shooting in North Augusta in May.

On May 21, North Augusta Public Safety officers were called to Breckenridge II Apartments on East Martintown Road, where they found Drumgold with a wound in his leg.

Brandon Keith Ingram, 21, was charged in that shooting. While he was in the Aiken County jail, investigators linked Ingram to the fatal drive-by shooting of an Aiken County man in April.

Anyone with information on the fatal shooting of Drumgold is asked to call the Thomson Police Department at (706) 445-9474.
