No charges in Harlem fatality

A woman who hit and killed an unidentified man in Harlem Saturday night will not be charged, authorities said.

Around 10:30 p.m., the woman, who police did not identify, was driving in the 3300 block of Gordon Highway, near Sheryl Drive, when a pedestrian stepped out in front of her, Colombia County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said.

Deputies found the man’s body in a nearby ditch. He was carrying no identification. His body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s lab in Atlanta for an autopsy Monday. Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins said the victim might be identified by fingerprints.
