The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld the murder conviction of an Augusta man who robbed and murdered 29-year-old Tollie C. Mitchell II.
In an opinion released Monday, the court ruled Travis Wilcher was fairly tried and convicted of murder, armed robbery and weapon violations for the shooting death of Mitchell on May 11, 2007. Wilcher was sentenced to two life-in-prison sentences plus an additional 10 years.
Desmond Grissam, who was 16 at the time of the killing in the parking lot of Regency Square Apartments, was convicted only of armed robbery. He was sentenced to life in prison.
