A 44-year-old Hephzibah man has been charged with public indecency and traffic violations after he was spotted naked in public Sunday and then fled from officers.
According to a police report, deputies were dispatched to the 4900 block of Windsor Spring Road about 9:15 a.m. Sunday on a complaint of public indecency from a Richmond County deputy who was off duty. Police said the officer saw a naked man, later identified as Michael Scott Bowles, seated alone on a bench conducting a lewd act. After the suspect realized he had been seen, he covered himself with a T-shirt and continued the act before fleeing in a blue SUV.
Deputies chased the suspect in a on Story Mill Road until he stopped.
Bowles was booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of public indecency, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, driving while license suspended or revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
