Money, bread stolen from Augusta woman's car

An Augusta woman alerted deputies Sunday after discovering that $1,700 and 24 loaves of bread had been removed from her unlocked vehicle.

According to a police report, the 44-year-old woman, an employee at Three Tiers Food Service, realized hours after parking her vehicle in her driveway on Richmond Hill Road that she had failed to lock the doors. After inspecting the vehicle, she found that the bread and money were missing. A suitcase, where the money had been hidden, was left in her trunk.

Police estimate the theft occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
