A man suspected in the shooting of a 17-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon surrendered shortly after to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Delano Robinson Mobley, 53, is accused of using a sawed-off shot gun to shoot the teen in the right shoulder at a house in the 300 block of Swamp Road in Beech Island, S.C., according to a news release. Earlier in the day, Mobley had been involved in an argument with four other people before returning to the house where the shooting occurred.
About 5 p.m., the victim was taken to the Beech Island Fire Station on Sand Bar Ferry Road by family members. She was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.
Mobley, who ran away, was contacted by family members who persuaded him to return to Swamp Road, where he turned himself in to police.
Mobley was arrested for an outstanding warrant charging larceny and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center. Investigators were seeking warrants late Wednesday charging attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
