Multiple local law enforcement agencies are searching for three to five men suspected to be involved in a botched drug deal this weekend, authorities said.
Waynesboro Police Department Chief Alfonzo Williams said a drug deal was supposed to happen in Augusta on Friday. When the package did not arrive, the dealer sent three to five men of Haitian or Jamaican decent to Waynesboro to search for an associate he suspected of intercepting the package.
The men were unable to locate the person they were searching for, and left a message saying they would return Tuesday.
Williams said the men were spotted Tuesday by witnesses, sparking a multi-agency search. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI are assisting the Waynesboro Police Department, Williams said.
Authorities are also searching for a blue sedan they believe is involved. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the men can call Waynesboro police at (706) 554-8029.
