Woman charged with robbing 82-year-old

A woman has been charged and police are searching for a witness to the robbery of an 82-year-old on July 3.

Richmond County investigators said Sam Morrison had just left Circle K, 1713 Martin Luther King Blvd., about 1 p.m. when a woman grabbed the back of his wheelchair and pushed him into an alley.

Police said the woman, later identified as 33-year-old Shanigue Robertson, dumped Morrison from his chair and pulled a knife on him.

Police believe Robertson had seen the victim with money at Circle K.

Robertson took money from his pocket and fled, police said. She was booked into the Richmond County jail friday on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, criminal damage to property in the second degree and exploitation of the elderly.

Police are seeking a witness to the incident who helped Morrison get back into his wheelchair.
