Hephzibah man accuses ex-girlfriend of flattening tires, stealing tools

A Hephzibah man called the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department Thursday and accused a woman he’d been dating for four months of flattening two tires on his work truck and stealing tools worth $300 from it.

The 61-year-old man told police that he and the woman had dissolved their relationship about 3 p.m. Thursday, after which he packed his belongings and left her Augusta home. He returned a half-hour later to take his work truck from the property and found its two rear tires deflated and the tools missing from boxes attached to the vehicle.

The woman told the investigating officer that she took only four tools from the truck to work on her car, and returned those to the man. She said she was not responsible for the flat tires or the tools the man listed as missing.

The man told police he would press charges.
