A monitored Aiken County sex offender who disappeared last week has been arrested in Myrtle Beach, S.C., authorities said.
Andrew James Harrelson, 19, was found sleeping in his car by the Myrtle Beach Police Department on Sunday, Aiken County sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell said.
On June 11, South Carolina Probation and Parole Services found Harrelson’s GPS monitor and some personal items in a trash can at the Racetrac Convenience Store on Columbia Highway. He was last seen leaving in a white minivan, which is the car the Myrtle Beach Police found him in.
Harrelson is on GPS monitor for life after pleading guilty to a lewd act on a minor in McCormick County when he was 16. The female victim was 8 years old.
Harrelson is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway, S.C., awaiting extradition to Aiken County.
