An Augusta Transitional Center inmate who walked away from his work detail has been recaptured without incident, authorities said.
Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gwendolyn Hogan confirmed that 44-year-old Rodney Maurice Bowen was back in custody after walking away from a work detail Saturday.
Bowen was serving a 10-year sentence for forgery in the first degree out of Bartow County, according to the Department of Corrections Web site. He was incarcerated in October 2009.
He had been jailed at least three other times, starting in 2004, for robbery, possession of cocaine, forgery and theft by shoplifting, the site said.
Bowen is at least the fourth Transitional Center inmate to walk away from work duty in little more than a year.
