An Aiken County man was arrested Thursday in connection with an underground moonshine operation, authorities said.

Boyce Dewayne Fields, 42, of Trenton, was charged with manufacturing illegal liquors after investigators found a “fully operational moonshine still,” that was capable of making around 200 gallons of the illegal liquor at a time in his home, according to an email from Aiken County Sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell.

They also discovered seven 55 gallon drums of mash which was being prepared for making moonshine, and several gallons of finished illegal moonshine.

Elwell said the raid by narcotics and vice investigators was a result of community tips and surveillance.
