Jurors will resume deliberations Wednesday to decide whether John Manello is guilty of menacing his neighbors with a knife during an argument in 2008.
Manello is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and terroristic threats in connection with an argument on Alene Circle, just east of Fort Gordon. The prosecution’s witnesses have said he threatened them with a kitchen knife with a 7½-inch blade and threatened to burn down his neighbor’s house.
Manello’s attorney, Charles Lyons, is building his case around discrepancies in witness testimony and argues that the victims should be on trial for gravely injuring Manello with a garden hoe. Jurors deliberated for about two hours Tuesday before recessing.
