Police probe report of Grovetown blood

Columbia County authorities were called to a Grovetown subdivision Wednesday after a man and his son said they found a large amount of blood on the ground.

The 41-year-old said earlier that evening he and his son saw a burgundy Dodge Ram truck parked near a gate on Sugarcreek Drive that led to an open field and power lines, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office report.

He asked the man inside the truck if he needed help, but the man, who appeared nervous, said he was waiting for a friend.

The father and son left to go home. A short time later, the 18-year-old son returned and found a large amount of blood in the spot where the truck had been parked.

The teen returned home to tell his father, who then called deputies.

All area hospitals and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were notified of the situation.
