2 2-ton iron columns stolen from behind downtown Augusta properties


An Augusta man reported the theft of two solid iron column posts each weighing 4,000 pounds and worth $15,000 apiece, police said.

Starkey Flythe, 76, told deputies the posts were taken from behind properties in the 1100 block of Broad Street between Dec. 27 and Tuesday, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.
