THOMSON — The driver in an accident that claimed the life of an 8-year-old Thomson boy has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failing to stop for a school bus loading or unloading, according to Gordy Wright of the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office.
On Oct. 19, 2010, Wayman Brown, 51, of the 200 block of Dunn Street, struck Cassius Walker with his 1984 Chevrolet S-10 pickup.
Cassius, a third-grader at Thomson Elementary School, was crossing Mesena Road to board his school bus when the accident occurred.
He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital and remained in critical condition for more than a week. He died Oct. 27 from injuries sustained in the accident.
Shortly after the incident, the investigation was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Reconstructive Collision Team in Gainesville.
The SRCT report from the crash investigation will be presented to the solicitor for prosecution, Wright said.
