5 Richmond County inmates charged with harboring cellphones

The Richmond County Correctional Institute has charged five inmates with felonies for harboring cellphones.

According to City Administrator Fred Russell, they were found during a random search, possibly while they were on a work detail.

As of Tuesday evening, none of the men had been transferred to another facility.

“Cellphones are a valuable commodity in prison,” Russell said.
