A routine traffic stop in North Augusta turned into a K-9 search for a suspect carrying several bags of cocaine Wednesday, North Augusta police said.
An officer pulled over a vehicle on Bradleyville Road near Conifer Drive for a cracked front windshield at 1:46 p.m., according to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report. The suspect, Donald Talbert Hill Jr., 31, got out of his vehicle and walked toward Georgia Avenue. When the officer yelled for him to stop, Hill ran across Georgia Avenue and east along Five Notch Road.
A witness told police setting up a perimeter around the area that he saw Hill throw several plastic bags into a wooded area and run into the woods near Five Notch Road.
Police set out K-9 dogs until Hill, of the 100 block of Liberty Hill Road, was arrested in the woods.
Hill’s charges include trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, resisting arrest and driving under suspension, third offense or more. The search lasted about 30 minutes.
