Aiken woman, 54, killed herself, coroner says

 

The Aiken woman found dead in her yard Monday died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, county Coroner Tim Carlton said Tuesday.

Kayla Raiford, 54, was discovered around 8 p.m. Monday outside her home on Horry Street by a family member. A weapon was found near her body.

Carlton said that by examining the position of the body, the position of the weapon and the wound, he was able to determine that she shot herself.
