Aiken County deputies seek burglar

Aiken County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who stole $6,000 worth of items from a 94-year-old woman while she was sleeping.

Deputies identified Jorden Contrell Dukes, 19, of the 5200 block of Dogwood Drive in Aiken, from evidence at the scene. He faces burglary and grand larceny charges, according to Capt. Troy Elwell.

The burglary happened between 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday, after the woman’s screen was removed and a window was pushed in. Dukes took the woman’s television, money, jewelry box and two bottles of Sprite, Elwell said.
