Catina Thurmond found a lump in her left breast during a routine self-exam and made an appointment with her general practitioner.
Thurmond requested a mammogram, which detected a tumor, then a biopsy confirmed cancer.
“I did a lot of crying,” she said. “I didn’t sleep a couple of nights.”
She said she prayed about it and put it all in God’s hands, and tried not to worry about it after that.
Her family accompanied her to every treatment and surgery and offered plenty of encouragement and reassurance.
