Augusta legislators plan meeting with commission

Members of Augusta’s legislative delegation are scheduled to meet with the Augusta Commission at 10 a.m. Tuesday as part of a daylong session scheduled with city officials.

Rep. Wayne Howard, D-Augusta, said the delegation has meetings planned throughout the day with elected officials including the sheriff, district attorney, coroner and commission members to discuss any issues or needs they may have.

“The idea was to rotate each group in and out,” Howard said.

Augusta’s legislative delegation includes Howard; Rep. Earnest Smith, D-Augusta; Rep. Quincy Murphy, D-Augusta; Rep. Gloria Frazier, D-Hephzibah; Rep. Barbara Sims, R-Augusta; Sen. Hardie Davis, D-Augusta; and Sen. Jesse Stone, R-Waynesboro. Each legislator’s district includes a portion of consolidated Augusta-Richmond County.

The meetings will be held in the main conference room at Augusta-Richmond County Public Library, 825 Telfair St.
