A Thomson High School senior is dead after a two-vehicle accident in McDuffie County on Friday.
Warren County Deputy Coroner Sandy Yelton said Kori Elaine Penna, 17, of Thomson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.
The wreck happened about 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of Wrens Highway and Old Milledgeville Road, where Penna, who was driving a Kia Sorento, collided with a Ford pickup.
A passenger in Penna’s SUV and two people who were traveling in the pickup were injured and taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
