Hephzibah woman arrested for shoplifting with baby in cart

A Hephzibah woman was arrested Friday for allegedly shoplifting while her child was in the shopping cart.

Kiara Christine Freeman, 23, was seen on in-store cameras attempting to conceal pork chops, lipstick, a tooth brush, toy phone, baby wipes and Rimmel skin tone concealer, according to an incident report from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at the Wal-Mart on Deans Bridge Road.

Freeman was observed placing makeup in her bra, while she put the baby wipes and pork chops in her child’s diaper bag, the report stated.

The suspect then selected a toy phone and tooth brush, placed the items on top of her baby in the cart seat, put a blanket over the items and left the store, according to the report.

Freeman was arrested in the parking lot outside the Garden Center.

The incident report did not state what happened to the child following Freeman’s arrest.
