Augusta store hit by stray bullets

An Augusta convenience store was hit by stray bullets Wednesday night during a shooting in the parking lot.

Richmond County deputies arrived to the Short Stop store at 2159 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just after 9 p.m. and found that the store’s glass window had been hit while customers and employees were inside, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Two vehicles in the parking lot, a Land Rover Discovery and Chevrolet Silverado, also were hit, shattering windows in each. People were inside both vehicles and witnessed the shooting.

Video surveillance taken from the store showed one suspect pulled a weapon and started shooting toward the street. Authorities also found four shell casings in the parking lot.

There was no description of the shooters.
