Aiken County authorities are looking for three men involved in a Tuesday morning home invasion and shooting that wounded one person.
About 9 a.m., the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a break-in in progress at 922 Mockingbird Lane in Aiken, said sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Eric Abdullah.
Deputies and Aiken Department of Public Safety officers heard a single gunshot when they arrived. The suspects, described as black males wearing camouflage jackets, ran out the back door into the neighborhood, Abdullah said.
“They had all of the occupants of the residence gathered up,” he said. “They ransacked the house and demanded money and drugs.”
Witnesses saw one suspect run into a vacant house on Robinhood Trail but authorities were unable to find anyone inside the home. The SWAT team and canine trackers assisted investigators in the search.
The gunshot victim was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center and is expected to recover, Abdullah said. He would not release the person’s identity or further details.
