Columbia man charged with human sex trafficking

Richmond County authorities charged a Columbia man Thursday with two counts of human sex trafficking.

Earthell Tyler III, 29, was arrested Thursday afternoon after investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics divisions went to Motel 6 at 201 Boy Scout Road in reference to complaints about drug activity, loitering and prostitution, according to a statement released by Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew.

Investigators, who’d recently completed a human trafficking class, identified two victims of human trafficking at the scene. They arrested Tyler after an investigation and getting statements from both victims as well as Tyler.

Tyler was being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail, according to jailers.
