Seven Atlanta-area teens were arrested in Burke County on Monday after leading a Georgia State Patrol trooper on a chase in a stolen vehicle, police say.
Chris Lacienski, a state patrol post commander in Sylvania, Ga., said the teen driver fled from a trooper after he tried to stop the speeding car near Sardis, Ga., around 7:20 p.m.
The chase ended on Highway 23 near Ebenezer Church Road when the vehicle, which was stolen from the Atlanta area, crashed into the trooper’s car. The trooper was able to catch one teen, but six others got away.
Authorities searched the area on foot and by helicopter for about two to three hours, Lacienski said.
The six teens showed up later, asking for help at a woman’s home almost four miles away. Lacienski said the woman’s son drove the teens to a Burke County EMA station where they were met by police.
Lacienski said the teens were between 14 and 17. Names were not provided.
