Augusta man shot on Old Savannah Road

An Augusta man told police he was shot in the leg while walking on Old Savannah Road on Saturday morning.

About 2:45 a.m., Nicklaus Wilson, 25, of Hale Street, said he was walking on Old Savannah Road when he came across two black men in the 2000 block, a Richmond County sheriff’s report said.

One of the men brandished a chrome “automatic” handgun and began shooting, the report said. Wilson said he started to run and thought he heard several other people shooting.

When he returned home, Wilson noticed that he had been shot above his right kneecap. He was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment.
