Meeting with 'woman' at motel leads to robbery by men

An Augusta man who tried to arrange a meeting with a woman at a motel through a Web site Wednesday was surprised when he found two men, posing as women, who stole his bank card.

Warren Jeffrey Collier, 25, of the 400 block of Cross Tree Ct., went to the Motel 6 on Boy Scout Road about 11 a.m., after agreeing to meet with someone he believed was named “Tiffany,” whom he contacted through a sex Web site, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

After entering the room, Collier told deputies he saw someone with a Taser by the door and another man, wearing a blue jean skirt, near the bed.

The men, later identified as 23-year-old Travius Houston, of Decatur, Ga., and 21-year-old Michael Strozier, listed as homeless, took Collier’s bank card and told him to leave.

He did, and called police. Authorities arrived to find an empty motel room but found two people hiding in nearby woods who matched Collier’s description of the men. A Taser was found in one of the men’s purses.

Collier, whose bank card was returned to him, said he didn’t want to prosecute.

Houston and Strozier were charged with disorderly conduct.
