A 76-year-old Augusta man is without his medications after a burglar broke into his home over the weekend and stole them while he was bedridden, recovering from lung cancer and a broken hip.
Willie Harris did not hear or see the burglar, who used an outside chair to climb in and out of the living room window of his south Augusta home, son Stephan E. Harris said.
Stephan Harris said the burglar ransacked his bedroom while he was at work between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:50 a.m. Sunday. Among the items stolen were a $400 flat-screen TV; two pairs of girls sandals; a $250 suit jacket; four pair of Adidas sneakers; $155 in shorts and pants and $200 in shoes. Harris said the burglar also took his father’s anti-depressant, high blood pressure and sleep-aid medications.
“I hope they catch whoever did this and get them the help they need. It’s just wrong to steal someone else’s clothes and medications,” Stephan Harris said. “I want to see who did this be brought to justice. That would make me feel better.”
