Martinez man accused of robbing bank arrested

A Martinez man accused of robbing Wells Fargo on Furys Ferry Road at gunpoint Saturday has been arrested.

Andrew E. Nelson, 31, of the 3300 block of Davant St., is charged with armed robbery and being held without bond.

Deputies responded to the bank at 9:08 a.m. and arrested Nelson moments later at an office park on Bohler Road after the dye pack included with the stolen money exploded, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris. Police recovered the money and the weapon.
