Child molester to be sentenced Tuesday

Robert Gruka will be sentenced Tuesday after a jury found him guilty last week of all charges on a 14-count indictment that included child molestation, rape and incest. The guilty verdict was returned last Wednesday after 12 minutes of deliberation.

Over a three-day trial, jurors heard graphic testimony from the five girls investigators say Gruka molested as pre-teens. One of the children said she attempted to call 9-1-1 after one instance of molestation, but got no further than dialing โ€œ9โ€ before Gruka snatched the phone away.

He was also convicted of five misdemeanor counts of contributing to the deliquency of a minor after the girls said he supplied them cigarettes and Kool-Aid spiked with vodka.

This was the second trial for Gruka after his first ended in a mistrial in September. He faces up to life in prison for the crimes.
