The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released the names of the inmates charged in the death of Antonio Wiley on Aug. 28 at Augusta State Medical Prison and an assault on another prisoner earlier that day. They are:
Frederick Dewberry, 28 – murder, aggravated assault
Richard James, 19 – murder and aggravated assault
Norman Simpson, 26 – murder
Michael Lorenzo Ward, 37 – murder
Frankie Henry III, 25 – murder
Jean Fortie, 33 – murder
Dedrick Crews, 30 – aggravated assault
Chas Clifford Cannon, 24 – aggravated assault
Miracle Nwakanma, 23 – aggravated assault
Three of the inmates were already serving life sentences for murder: Simpson, Cannon and Nwakanma.
Wiley, born in 1981, died after being stabbed by homemade shanks while in the prison yard, according to Ayers, the special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Thomson.
Wiley, who was convicted of murder in Fulton County, Ga., was being held at the Gordon Highway facility. Further details on Wiley were not made public.
