4 arrested in Aiken drug sweep

A Thursday night drug sweep of Aiken’s Crosland Park led to four arrests.

Aiken Public Safety officers and members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Regional Anti-Gang Enforcement task force executed search warrants on three homes suspected of drug activity on Schroder Avenue, Sommers Avenue and Vincent Street, according to authorities.

Nelson L. Williams, 25, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half mile of a school or park. Lancy Lee Cheatham, 24, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Catherine Adams, 22, and a juvenile were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

“The residents of Crosland Park have told us that they do not want their neighborhood to be known as a haven for drug dealers,” said Public Safety Sgt. Jake Mahoney.

Williams and Cheatham are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
