Summerville Pharmacy expects to move to a new home in June.
The Augusta pharmacy is moving from a converted home at 2279 Wrightsboro Road into a former Regions Bank branch at 2839 Central Ave., which is behind the Daniel Village shopping center.
Owners of the pharmacy purchased the 2,400-square-foot building in February for $220,000, according to city property records.
The old bank’s interior space is being renovated to create a fully-functional pharmacy, which is lacking in the current location, said co-owner Chris Hearon.
“The size and the setup of the pharmacy is not very conducive for a good work flow,” Hearon said. “There’s just not space for more people than a few at a time.”
The new pharmacy should open by late June, Hearon said.
Summerville Pharmacy opened in 1992. It moved from inside St. Joseph Hospital, now Trinity Hospital, to the Wrightsboro Road location in 2006. Local pharmacists Rob Woods and Joe Boyd acquired the pharmacy in 2013.
