The area’s second Cook-Out restaurant is expected to open in Columbia County by the end of the month.
The North Carolina-based chain is opening a 3,200-square-foot fast-food restaurant at 4088 Jimmie Dyess Parkway, just off Interstate 20 and in a former KFC building that is currently being remodeled, said Joel Christman, whose company, Dodson & Chatman Construction, is supervising the project.
The restaurant, which serves char-grilled hamburgers, chicken, hotdogs and dozens of milkshakes, will include both indoor and outdoor seating in addition to a single drive-through window, Christman said.
The first Cook-Out location in metro Augusta opened this summer on Walton Way at Crawford Avenue.
The chain has more than 128 locations across the Carolinas, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.
