CareSouth acquires Florida-based Alliance Care

The acquisition of a Florida company will result in more jobs at the headquarters of an Augusta-based home health care company.

CareSouth said Friday that it acquired Florida-based Alliance Care and plans to fill new corporate positions in the near future.

CareSouth provides home health care services, such as hospice, outpatient wellness, physician house calls and private-duty nursing, throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

According to Diana Porter, the director of integrated marketing and communications for CareSouth, the acquisition resulted in 500 new employees from Alliance Care, a 50 percent increase in the existing workforce of about 1,000 employees.

“Anytime you add 500 new employees, you’re going to be increasing your back-end support,” she said.

She expects positions in upper-level management, information technology, graphic arts, clinical services, human resources and other ancillary positions to be created within the next few months.

The acquisition has been in process for about two years, Porter said.

The company now does business as CareSouth Homecare Professionals in 11 Florida cities.

CareSouth will retain most of the former Alliance Care employees and will increase that employee base in the near future.
