April visitors to the CSRA don’t all come for golf. The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates non-Masters Tournament guests will spend more than $3.5 million in direct visitor spending.
The largest group is the Archery Shooters Association, a 1,200-person group expected to bring in $884,450 from April 27-29. Another large group is the 660-person 2012 Augusta Arsenal Shootout from April 27-29, bringing in an estimated $454,860.
Direct visitor spending in April 2011 was estimated at $2.2 million.
Many of the April visitors are return guests, according to CVB director of sales and marketing Peggy Seigler. Keeping visitors happy keeps them coming back, she said.
“That’s always the goal,” she said. “They have a good time, and they come back.”
Other notable groups on the April report include the 2012 Men’s and Women’s Hard Court Tennis at the Newman Tennis Center and the Parking Association of Georgia 2012 Spring Conference.
