The Sitel call center in Augusta is expanding by 200 positions, bringing the company’s local workforce to 1,000 employees.
The Nashville, Tenn.-based company said it will add customer service agents to its facility at 2115 Windsor Spring Road because of continued business growth. The new employees will join a staff of about 800 workers in serving an unnamed Fortune 500 wireless provider and unnamed major health care company.
The company attributed the business expansion to the local team’s expertise in billing, account records management, technical support and related services.
“As a direct result of having realized measurable success in the delivery of their customer care, Sitel’s clients are now planning to expand their customer service workforce,” Sitel’s Augusta site director, Phil Madden, said in a statement.
An on-site job fair to fill the new positions will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday. The company prefers applicants to have previous customer service experience and strong computer skills. Job-seekers also can apply online at the company’s Web site, www.sitel.com.
In addition, Sitel is hoping to add more staffers to the local management team for assisting the new customer service associates, although they would likely come from within the company.
Sitel has been in Augusta since 1999. The company added about 150 employees in 2011 to provide customer care and technical support for two new clients.
Sitel has about 56,000 employees who work at more than 110 centers in 23 countries.
In December, the outsourced customer care provider announced plans of adding about 3,500 employees in the U.S. and Canada to support Sitel’s expanding business with companies in industries including retail, travel, financial services, communication and consumer electronics. This spring, the company announced a combined 335 permanent hires at its centers in Albuquerque, N.M., and Ocala, Fla.
