Kevin Wade, the creator of an Augusta information technology firm, was named the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year on Thursday.
Wade launched intelliSystems for small and medium-size companies in 1993. It has expanded to include an Aiken office that opened in November and an office in Columbia opening next year, according to The Augusta Chronicle archives.
“Nearly 20 years ago, today’s recipient started his business in a field that has probably had more rapid change than any other,” said Dan Blanton, the president and CEO of Georgia Bank & Trust.
Blanton presented the award at the chamber’s member economic luncheon at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center.
Also at the luncheon, a new Entrepreneur Rising Star award recognizing an up-and-coming business was presented to Gloria Dunbar, the owner of Hybrid Health IT, a health information technology service company formed in 2010.
