  • Develop a strategy. Review Black Friday store ads ahead of time and select your shopping destinations based on sales. Consider shopping at the mall for easy access to many stores and less driving. Many door busters have limited quantities, so shoppers should also determine how many of particular items will be sold at each store.
  • Make a detailed list. Shoppers can even save a copy in their smartphone. Include details such as the model number to help you locate items quickly.
  • Stay connected to Facebook and Twitter. Even when you’re standing in line on Black Friday, check the Facebook and Twitter pages of your favorite stores for the latest updates on deals.
  • Make sure you’re getting a deal. Simply because a price has been slashed doesn’t mean you’re getting a good deal. Many stores lower prices on unpopular items to clear them out. Do your homework to make sure you’re getting a quality product.
  • Bring a shopping partner. This increases your chances of snagging limited-quantity deals. During the wait in long lines, it also leaves a place holder if someone needs to use the restroom.
