SRNS donates surplus computers to Augusta-area schools

Over the past 12 months, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions has distributed more than 300 excess personal computers to 12 local schools.

Purchased by the U.S. Department of Energy, more than 80 of these computers have been provided directly to schools in Aiken, Martinez, Lincolnton, Ga., and Waynesboro, Ga.

“We’re so thankful,” said Estevan Price, a trustee at Augusta Christian Schools, which received 17 computers. “Budgets are so tight. These computers will have a huge impact on our teachers, helping them in the classrooms.”

Other educational outreach programs offered through SRNS include CSRA College Night, Innovative Teaching Mini-Grants Program, Traveling Science Demonstration Program, Science & Technology Enrichment Program, Introduce a Girl To Engineering, Future City Competition, DOE Savannah River Regional Science Bowl and Savannah River Regional Science & Engineering Fair.
