The guardian of a toddler who drowned in a pool last week after wandering from her Grovetown home was charged Tuesday with involuntary manslaughter.
Sharon Davis, the 3-year-old’s aunt, was also charged with contributing to the delinquency and deprivation of a minor, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
The child, Raydin Hollbrooks, died at a hospital after she was pulled from a backyard pool in the 100 block of Pauline Street. An autopsy confirmed that Raydin drowned, Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins said.
Raydin had wandered away from her home undetected. A neighbor helping with a search, Deontray Johnson, 25, saw Raydin at the bottom of the pool.
The homes are about a quarter-mile apart in the rural community off Louisville Road. The gate to the fence around the above-ground pool was open.
Davis is being held at the Columbia County Detention Center without bond, Morris said.
