Mother, 27, jailed after children found alone at home

Felicia Brown, 27, is charged with driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, and two counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor.

A 27-year-old mother is in jail after police said she left two children at home Saturday to go look for their father.

Police said they were responding to a separate domestic violence case at Trinity Manor Apartments when Felicia Brown drove up. She appeared to be drinking, according to deputies, and they charged her with driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Authorities then learned two of Brown’s five children had been left home alone.

Deputies went to Brown’s East Telfair Street apartment just before 2 a.m. Sunday and found two sleeping children, ages 3 and 1. A neighbor told deputies that Brown asked her to look out for the children around 9 or 10 p.m. while she went in search of their father.

Brown’s three remaining children were found at their father’s home.

Two counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor were added against Brown when she was booked into the Richmond County Jail.
