Police said they arrested a burglar in the act of stealing from a downtown business Monday night with the help of two Augustans.
Around 11 p.m., Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Robbie Silas said, he was driving in the 800 block of Broad Street when he saw Joel Ferguson, 49, running across the street carrying a boom box and other items.
Silas turned around and saw two men, James Jackson and Chris French, chasing Ferguson. Silas caught up to Furguson and detained him while Jackson and French told him Ferguson had just broken into Pyramid Records, 822 Broad St., by throwing a brick into a glass window. They had come out when they heard the crash and saw Ferguson holding two boom boxes, Silas said.
Ferguson was booked into Richmond County jail on a burglary charge.
