Man charged with 2 burglaries at same Augusta house

A homeless man has been charged with back-to-back burglaries at a home.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Investigator Aaron Hannsz, Gevous James Taylor, 26, has been linked to two of three burglaries that occurred within three days in November at a residence in the 2500 block of Dover Street.

The home was first burglarized Nov. 11. Reports indicate clothing and food were taken.

The next day, police said Taylor entered the home while the homeowner was there and demanded money while holding his fist in the air. The suspect fled with only a cell phone.

The next day, deputies noticed suspicious behavior at the home and caught Taylor inside.

He has been charged with two counts of burglary, robbery by force and obstruction of law enforcement.

No one has been charged in the first burglary of the residence.
