Shoplifter can't fool N. Augusta Walmart employee

A shoplifter tried to fool the loss prevention employee at the North Augusta Walmart on Sunday.

The trick didn’t work.

Timothy Lawrence told officers that a man came into the store around 4 p.m. and purchased a 32-inch flat-screen television and a helium tank, according to a North Augusta Public Safety report.

The man took the items to his car and then re-entered the store, put the same model TV and helium tank in his shopping cart and tried to exit another side of the store using the same receipt.

Lawrence had the man on camera, and he was arrested at the scene. The suspect’s identity wasn’t immediately available.
