Copper tubing stolen from Augusta church

Approximately 4 feet of copper tubing was stolen out of an air conditioner at an Augusta church Sunday.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, Robert Windell Hopson of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1114 12th St., discovered the copper was missing from an outside unit about 2 p.m. The deputy said someone had twisted it loose.

Hopson said it happened between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
