Police in Ocean Springs, Miss., are seeking help in the search for a murder suspect who might have been making his way down Interstate 20.
Two years ago Nov. 10, a man who used the alias Jericho Cooper entered a pool hall in Gulfport, Miss., and struck up a conversation with Mike Surber, a 54-year-old professional billiards player. The two were seen on surveillance video leaving the pool hall together later that evening. Two days later Surber was discovered stabbed to death in his home.
Authorities discovered Cooper was actually an Atlanta man who had been a victim of identify theft.
The suspect has been spotted twice at locations along Interstate 20. In one incident the suspect also used Cooper’s name in a sports bar off of the interstate in Villa Rica, Ga., and attempted to entice a woman to leave with him by claiming he was a talent scout for a recording studio.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 40s. He had dark brown hair that is often pulled into a ponytail. Authorities said he frequents bars and has a history of running out on his bar tab.
